History of the Church Agios Nikolaos.
The Church of Agios Nikolaos is more than a place of worship for the Greek–Dutch community. It is a monument to the efforts of all those who have worked for it over the years. It is a kind of “museum within a church”, containing remarkable iconography
in the byzantine style not available elsewhere in Rotterdam.

It is historical proof of the presence of Greek interests in the Rotterdam port and shipping industry. In the 50 years since the establishment of the church,
the Union of Greeks in the Netherlands has worked ceaselessly in a fundraising capacity to support the Church. By organizing two events per year: the Annual Dinner Dance “Griekse Gala”, and the Annual Greek Bazaar. The success of both these events is crucial in order to raise the necessary funds to cover the expenses of the Church, as there is no other source of income available. Without sponsorship this well-established event cannot
achieve its fundraising goals in support of the Church of Agios Nikolaos.
